NACS recommend that chimneys should be cleaned as follows:

• Smokeless Fuels: At least once a year

• Bitumous Coal: At least twice a year

• Wood: Quarterly when in use

• Oil: At least once a year

• Gas: At least twice a year

• Biomass: At least once a year
